The band is based in Los Angeles and is currently signed to Sub Pop records. The duo initially played together with drummer Jeremy Villalobos in Wives, and takes their name from the title of a 1987 SST Records instrumental compilation, which Spunt discovered while working at Aron's, a record store in Los Angeles. No Age has been listed as a mainstay of The Smell, along with Health, Mika Miko, Silver Daggers, Abe Vigoda, BARR, and David Scott Stone. The band has strong ties with the Los Angeles underground community centered around The Smell and their DIY ethic is a throwback to the 1980s hardcore and punk underground, which comes through on much of the group's music. No Age has released three full-length albums, toured extensively in support of them, and is a strong advocate of the All-ages Movement Project, an organization that connects youth to each other and to the arts through independent music. All Music Guide described their latest album " the album stands alongside Nouns as two of the finest noise rock/pop albums of the new millennium." LUCKY DRAGONS http://www.myspace.com/luckydragons Lucky Dragons is an experimental music group consisting of Luke Fischbeck and Sarah Rara. Based in Los Angeles, California, the band are noted for their unusual sound, described as having the ability to make "'everyday sounds' become alluringly other". Lucky Dragons' performances include live music, video projection, and sounds created in collaboration with the audience. They have performed at the Smell, Echo Curio, Dublab, at major international art institutions and at the 2008 Whitney Biennial. Though their songs have been described as having "entered the postsong age", Rara said that she felt music was "still very much in a song age" as "very few people are making work without a specific duration or end point". Rara said that the structure of Lucky Dragons' songs were very different, with some songs lasting only for "a few sputters" and with others that "revolve around shepherd tones and expand for hours". She stated that many of their songs "begin with improvisation" and said it was "like a game where the only rule is that each action must generate a kind of response or new action". The improvisation enables them to "keep moving in several new directions at once". Fischbeck said "a song in my mind is something that is completed once it is distributed and can come back in a changed form through a listening reaction" and was the element that enabled him to continue to call the band's music songs, as opposed to what he called "the much more technologically neutral 'tracks,' which [don't] imply any human interaction at all". The Stranger described two of the band's older albums, Norteñas and Future Feeling, as "employ[ing] a scrappy indietronica approach that sounds like Icelandic cuties Múm if they were raised on UK post-punk spazzes Swell Maps and hit "record" while buzzed on Jolt." Fischbeck noted that he felt the band's music was "maybe a mix between political and healing—meditative punk..." JOHN MILNER YOU'RE SO BOSS (Toronto) Spazz-punk 4 piece featuring Toronto's Danielle LeBlanc, Ronnie Cote, Matt Davey and Andy D. An emerging and honest talent, this group have performed alongside The Death Set, Lightning Bolt, Dan Deacon as well as serving an essential role in Toronto's growing DIY underground. PRIMARY COLORS PRESENTS – THE WHAM CITY COMEDY TOUR 2010!!!!!

This fall, Primary Colors Presents invites you to come and experience all that is WHAM CITY for their first ever comedy tour! Coming all the way for Baltimore Maryland and after a row of successful comedy shows, WHAM CITY is excited to come back to Toronto and bring with them all the greatness from their theatre nights during the WHAM CITY retrospective at The DeLeon White Gallery in 2009. Along with WHAM CITY will be Toronto residents: Life of a Craphead and Jamie Shannon! Please come and show these wonderful artists some support at DoubleDouble Land in Kensington Market Toronto!

MORE INFO:

Wham City is a group of independent artists linked by the bonds of friendship. They join forces to collaborate, they disperse to collaborate with others, and some only collaborate with themselves. The structure/non-structure of the group is in a constant state of flux. They have no set group aesthetic, focus, or member roster. Their work as individuals represents them alone and does not necessarily reflect the group or other members. Wham City makes art shows, theater performances, music shows, festivals, books, computer networks, fashion shows, email lists, etc. They also include members and non-members. Their goal is to create and support an artistic community while honoring our individual voices and to write emails.

Some words from the Artists:

“It was an idea that a few of us had simultaneously, we ran over to each other and pretty much said the same thing at the same time. We were so excited we knew it was going to happen.” – Ben O’Brien (Wham City member and co-creator of Showbeast)

“Comedy has always been a big part of the work that we make and they way we interact with each other. A lot of us over the years have been working on our own solo acts, stand up, performance art, plays, etc, so we decided to put it all together into a one ultimate comedy night combined with some original never-before-seen group sketches. It comes out to be a nice mixture of different styles, like a creepy salad.” – Ben O’Brien (Wham City member and co-creator of Showbeast)
